Spotify’s engineering teams have dramatically accelerated development by leveraging artificial intelligence, with their top developers not writing a single line of code manually since December. Despite this, the company launched over 50 new features last year, demonstrating the power of AI-assisted coding.

The key to Spotify’s efficiency is an internal system called “Honk,” which utilizes Anthropic’s Claude Code to automate coding tasks. This allows engineers to deploy code changes in real-time, streamlining the entire development process.
“Engineers can now fix bugs on their commute; the AI handles the solution, creates a new app version, and the engineer simply pushes it live upon arrival,” explained Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström.
